I have some crappy luck lately with my em1 (idling issue)
Recently my car was idling low and nearly shutting off unless I gave it gas, so I thought my IACV was clogged or dirty. I opened it up and cleaned it and reinstalled it but it still was idling and close to shutting off. I swapped it out for another IACV which I also cleaned before installing and it still kinda sucked.
Turns out my timing belt was on its way out and I just changed it so why is it still idling? Its not as bad as before I changed the belt but it still sucks enough to complain about it. I always changed my pcv, fuel filter, cap, rotor, plugs, wires and air filter so that cant be the issue. I dont think I have a vaccum leak either...so what could it be?
Maybe both IACV's were bad?...I dunno

how bad was the timing belt did it skip a tooth and bend valves. A compression test would show if thats a concern. do you have a fuel pressure guage. is the tap in on the top of the fuel filter to check it. the way I check a iacv problem is cover the hole that feeds air that is on the filter side of the throttle body and if the concern goes away then thats it if not then move on.

How many miles are on the motor?
Setting the valve lash, cleaning the grounds and replacing the O2 sensor would be next, if you've already taken care of the cap, rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter and PCV valve.
And are you saying that the belt jumped a tooth? Have you checked ignition timing lately (even if the belt didn't skip)?

I havent checked if the belt jumped a tooth but my car did stall on my and I had to get it towed. When I checked the belt it was torn right down the middle, it looked skinny but it didnt snap.
Its a stock b20z engine, I have to head to school now so I cant even check anything

Re: I have some crappy luck lately with my em1 (TDSI99)
Just got back. The car shut off on me twice at 2 different lights.
I didnt get to respond to eveyones reply.
* I dont think it's the fuel pump, I had a Si swap in there before and it worked fine
* I havent done a compression test, but I'll give it a shot and I'll also check my IACV the way you described I should
* The engine supposedly has 30k miles when I pickec it up from the yard. When I swapped out the intake manifold, the gasket looked really clean.
* I didnt say it jumped a tooth, but perhaps it did? Would it cause this problem?

omg so many people are having this problem.
i am too on my d16z6
hasnt been the iacv
vacuum leak
spark plugs, wires, dizzy
pcv valve
compression was good
i havent changed my fuel pump or checked timing, i have a thread up on the same thing, as well as a couple other threads floating around.
if anyone has suggestions i could use them as well
s2k hybrid, if i figure it out on my own ill let you know what caused it

just because compression is good doesnt mean that you still didnt bend anything ...need to do a leak down test on it (better in my opinion)

how about something obvious, like opening up your idle screw on your throttle body.
other than that, sounds like an ignition timing problem to me.

Re: I have some crappy luck lately with my em1 (ziich2)
I already adjusted the screw on the tb, that cant be the reason. The gasket could be the problem. Also, if the tps was bad shouldnt it throw a code? I had a bad night, im going to the mechanic tomorrow and have the timing checked out...again.
