Default I have a question i need answered

alright well come to find out my timing belt broke and i have to replace it well i did it all and when i tryed to turn it on it worked but coolent started dripping out. do you think that is the sign of a bad water pump and that could be the reason why the belt broke in the first place. if someone can confirm this that would be great if there is anything else it could be let me know thanks

were you having coolant leaks/problems prior to this?... sounds like a reasonable explanation to me... oils and such can weaken the timing belt so if coolant leaked all over it, it could have caused the belt to become weak and snap

no i dont think it was leaking before but the tep would go up really really high when the car was idling and when i was moving it would go back to normal. if that means something i think it sounds like the water pump to me

could be that... or the thermostat... something along those lines... but water pumps have a weep hole on the bottom and usually leak through this hole to let you know its going bad... you should have noticed coolant leaking externally or loss of coolant in the overflow tank/radiator if you paid attention

should the water pump gear spin pretty freely like not have to force it much to move it?

Been my experience that its kind of a pain in the *** to get in to the water pump in the first place so while your in there you might as well change the water pump and anything else that has the potential to fail. The less times you have to get those damn bolts out of the plastic front cover the better.

All in all I agree its the water pump

Why didn't you have the water pump replaced when you had the timing belt replaced anyways?
