make vtec open at 4000 rpm at sohc engine
hi guys
i have civic 92 i swaped d15b vtec
the orignal solenoid open the vtec at 5000 rpm from a signal in the ecu.
the b30 ecu from the sir b16a open vtec at 4000 rpm.
my friend told me that he can do something in the ecu (instal software belongs to ecu b30 SIR in my ecu)
so if i made it open at 4000 rpm it'll be cool i think. so what do u think guys?

Re: make vtec open at 4000 rpm at sohc engine (egycasper)
it might not be the best for ur engine. the VTEC point is set higher in the RPM band because oil pressure has to be built up in order for it to engage. if u lower it that low, it might go into limp home mode. I have never even heard of VTEC engaging that low on a B16a unless u lowered it urself......

some b16a ecu open vtec at 4000 rpm
i have another friend he have the same d15b he put the b30 ecu and the car get faster.
anyway i'' explane i have d15b 3stage and i changed the electric caples and ecu, mainfull, esprater everything but the engine.
then i conected the 2 solenoids together .
the ecu belong to d15b vtec
so at final the car open vtec at 5000 rpm and it's cool.
i know i confuse u but thats what happened.

first off its a p30 not a b30... vtec engages at 6k not 4k... and last i think its a waste of time and hacking ecu's... if you really want to do that get a vafc

its a VTEC controller, basically it allows you to choose your VTEC point at which rpm it will engage and at which rpm in will disengage. Also you can control the air and fuel mixture if I am not mistaken. But this something that shouldnt be touched if you dont know what your doing. Either way its always best to have it tuned by a professional and who has the equipement to dyno it for the best possible results.

The only way any of this will make a difference, is if you have your car on a dyno while you're tuning. If you don't plan on changing A/F or VTEC crossover while you're on a dyno, you're wasting your time, and making your car slower.

That's fine and all, but what I'm saying is that if you don't tune it on the dyno to see what point VTEC should engage, you will most likely make your car slower.
Having VTEC engage sooner does not equal more power or speed. When changing anything on your computer, you need to tune it properly on the dyno.

go ahead and let your friend do it so you can tell us in broken english how you blew your motor up because you weren't getting enough fuel with your VTEC at 4000. Honda set VTEC where it is for optimal performance for a reason. If you think that it is really that cool to hack an ECU b/c your *** thinks your car has another 3 horsepower then go ahead and do it more power to ya! Let this lame thread DIE!!!

Re: make vtec open at 4000 rpm at sohc engine (DSeriesBKilla)
Dude above is right. Im going to go out on a limb and venture to say that Honda did 100x more research on where vtec should cross on a stock engine than your friend did.
BTW-Dseriesbkilla- I liked the broken english part
