i have oil on the bottom of my sparkplug. . why?

for some reason i have oil on the bottom of my sparkplug could it be because of a bad piston ring?

I've seen a valve cover/spark plug tube leak cause oil on TOP of the spark plug, but I've yet to see one on the bottom...
