Default I have a list of serious questions for my 99 Si.

Hey guys.
I got me a JUN reprogramed ECU for my StageIII cams.
With the ECU, I also got an OBD1 harness and within seconds I plugged and played and found that my CEL doesnt turn off. I did reset the ECU but it jus stays on as long as I got the new ECU and harness. Also, I went hooked up the car to a computer and it didn't tell me why the CEL is on.
The Idle is horrible and when the engine's cold it dies out a lot.
My questions:
1) Is there anyway to turn the light off without taking the bulb out.
2) Is it the obd1 or ECU that is turning the light on
3) I realize with aggressive cams the idle won't be steady but what can I do to prevent such hassles on starting the car up.
4) Also when the car starts up cold theres a puddle of carbon from under my exhaust tip, Im running wayy too rich, gettin like 15miles to the gallon. Any advice on this?

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but Im stumped on my car dying out, my CEL on, and running way too rich, I dont wanna give up the JUN ecu cuz it's a great combo with my cams, help my stupid butt out guys.

Thanks so much!

1. Fix the problem that is causing the CEL in the first place. If it doesn't store a code, it's going to be an uphill battle.
2. ECU
3. Are the cams tuned on a dyno? Advance the exhaust cam 1 degree and see if that smooths it out. The rough idle you're experiencing can be a function of both the ECU and cam timing.
4. The ECU is tuned too rich.

Thanks Pupa for your insight.
Yes the Cams are retarded on a dyno.

My buddie tells me to get a Hondata, this work well with my cams?
I dont know too much about Hondata I guess, but with Jun cams I'd went with Jun ECU, just made sense to me.
This way I can also regulate my fuel correct, can I also have an OBD1 up tot he Hondata?
Some insght please.
Thanks

i had the same problmne with the CEL comig on and not being able to read the codes it just stayed on and never flashed even when i jumped the ecu. when that happens the ecu is bad ir theres something wrong with it. i have a jun ecu too i have had 3 from 3 different people and the 3rd one i got is great. so i say that its either u have a bad ecu or something is wrong with ytour conversion harness like it is not pinned right u now check those out. a good way to check is to kepe the conversion harness in there and try using a stock obd1 ecu like a p30 or a p72 if you dont have a CEL then its the ecu if u get a CEL again and can not check it it has to be the harness. good luck
