Default I have a 95 Del Sol Si, should I turbo the D series or go B18C1?

I am completely new to Hondas, I picked this up from my gfs brother and I want to use this as a project car. Which would be the wiser choice? I have about 5-6k budgeted for mods and so forth. What would you do?

Car has 52k on the clock

If I go turbo on the D or all motorwith the B series, which other mods could I do to maximize my budget? How much should a good turbo setup cost? I will not be drag racing the car, I just want a car that's fun to drive and could scoot when I want it to.

the turbo D is a fun set up and would probably cost you around 3 grand for a kit and a real good tune. piecing your own kit together is another good option, personally i would build the D with 5 grand and boost it

F the B, Turbo the D.

Get a greddy or edelbrock kit.

Haha, I never heard that one before, but I agree.

You can rape stock GSR's and B16's all day long .

If you have that much cash to spend, upgraded camshaft + a good kit would work well. Then you just pawn off the e-manage that it comes with and get a real tuning system and you're set to go, man.

i have a 99 hatch with a gsr and its fun to drive around but i would not say that the d has no potential with 5 - 6k to play with properly turboed meaning built bottom end and good proper tuning.....u will b handing civics with gsr motor their asses=======turbo the d

could you explain, because i'd have to highly diagree. Sure, The b series does have more potential when up to boost, BUT he stated na B series or Turbo D. In this case, a turbo D on stock internals is still faster with more whp than a B. Plus with 5-6k, if he uses his money wisely, he could probably spend enough on internals, which is even better.

OP, why would you want to keep the B-series all motor? Why not turbo it if you're okay with turboing the D-series?

You wouldn't have to turbo the engine right after or during the swap. If you want a fun car that has get up and go, swap in the B18C1. After awhile, you can upgrade by turboing it.

i say go with the b18c1. i wouldnt even bother boosting the d its not worth it. plus all motor b's are much more fun to drive than a turbo d. lol turbo d's with stock internals are by no means impressive or powerful.

all day long.

I mean, turboing the d series would be fun but if you have 6 grand you could buy a GSR swap in and still piece together a turbo kit. You might have to save up a tad bit more money after the swap, but you would have 95% of the cash left over to turbo the GSR. If you have the time, i say swap and boost!

Because if I buy the B18C1, which would run about 3k + shipping, then turdbo, I wouldn't really have enough to get me a good exhaust system, fuel system, wheels, tires, etc. With the D series, the engine is already in there so I could add extra goodies or fix anything that goes wrong without extending my budget

You don't have to do all of that at once.

Get the B18. Get it into the car.

Have fun.

Later, do whatever else you might want.

I just don't understand people who say, "I have $X to spend on my car... ever."

do some homework on d-series turbo.. piece together your own turbo, do MINOR internal work on the motor.. get a good tune, save the left over money for a rainy day you do not want to build you d-series block like crazy because it will be a loss of money, (unless you want to be pushing 20+ psi then build) you said you only want to have something fun to drive.. 8-10 psi should keep you happy and you don't need any major work especially on that virgin motor you already have!
