Input shaft bearing is bad. If you depress the clutch and the sound goes away it's the input shaft bearing (otherwise known as the mainshaft bearing for Emerika). Search for the thread by BauleyCivic to see how to fix it.
And next time make your thread title something helpful for future reference.

What he said ^

A pic:
What happens if you don't fix it soon:
The ISB will get chewed up and thrown all over the tranny...destroying it and locking it up. Tom (B18C5-EH2) said he drove around for a few months on a bad one and he was locked out of gears (destroyed tranny).

Re: I got a? (BauleyCivic)
^^ Go ahead and order the bearing from Honda. I tried to order 3 of them from my local Advance Autoparts because they could get it to me overnight, and ended up not getting the right one through them. Just go ahead and get the Honda part.
Also, it's not a very hard job at all. Just pulling the tranny sucks.

Damn my car makes humming noise but there is no ticking sound when idling and when I press the pedal, it goes away. I also hear the same humming noise when running on first gear and reverse. I have learned to live with it for more than a year now. tried replacing the tranny oil but humming noise is still there.
Could it be the same problem?
