i found something werid in my car today
i was gutting my trunk today in my 95 civic coupe dx and on the left hand side of the trunk, behind that grey ******* carpet thing, i notice there is a retangle thing (looks like a vent of some kind and you can see through it and you see like fiberglass (might be part of the car body). WTF is this thing and why do i have it??

if you have your bumper off, and you close one of your doors, you can see the air rushing out of those vents, to let the air out.

most cars use this setup with little rubber flap/fins that open up and release pressure when doors are closed (you can see the flaps jump up)....dont worry, its SUPPOSED to be there

It's so you don't shatter your windows when you shut your doors quickly. Tight seal = pressure not released.

It's so you don't shatter your windows when you shut your doors quickly. Tight seal = pressure not released.
i used to be into sound before i stepped into the light.......and i taped mine up...havent had any windows bust out or seals break....

is that the reason why there is less road noise and air noise when i put my car on air circulation? when i push the air circulation button on my gutted hatch, it sounds as if there is less road noise coming from the back. i've always wondered....
