Default I am so sick of the HX being overlooked by the aftermarket!

[RANT]This is irritating, everytime I start to research either a turbo or a supercharger, I hit a wall beacuse these guys decided to smog legalize there stuff for every Civic except the HX. Come on, how can you over look the lightest coupe in the fricken group!!![/RANT]

Spade who is about to just give up. But hoping Jackson racing will give him some decent news.

thats because on your motor is designed to run in a lean burn cycle all the time. lean=not good

just get a sohc vtec EX head, intake, manifold, ecu, tranny, u will then have a EX motor, and then u can find so much more

but do u see what im saying..that cylinder head/ecu combo is made to run lean, its a high mpg engine. either u go vtec or non vtec..not vtec-e..thats my opinion

Or stop being cheap and buy a B motor, there i said it, why go through all the headaches? Might as well just milk the 40 + mpg while you save your gas money to buy the new engine. If not when i buy MY B engine ill sell you my old POS D16Z6 Thanks

Yes, I understand that and there is alo the thing where the "lean burn" goes away once the VTEC-E turns on.

AND even though I haven't verified the duration of both cams the HX has higher lift on it's cam on both the intake and exhaust then the EX.

Also, it is on the higher lift points (VTEC-E) at 3000 RPMs as apposed to 5500 like the EX.

EDIT: ROFLLMAO......I was just ranting guys. I have researched all the possiblities and I just refuse to accept the fact that I have to swap the engine........

well. if u r trynna say why build a sohc,, that sounds like a v8 person saying why build a 4 banger.

spade, i suggest u look into 88-89 a1 teg pistons, y8 headgasket, arp headbolts, y8 head,y8 manifold,ex tranny, a plus side with the sohc vtec is that u can idle and daily drive the biggest ****** cams on the low cam profile, and have a monstrosity on the vtec lobes, be careful with valve clearances and the a1 pistons though. pick a fuel system of your choice, dyno dyno dyno, and lose some weight.

HRM, interesting enough.....but, I forgot to mention one more thing......California Smog legal If I don't change the block then they will smog it as a HX.

Isn't this fun? ROFL.

I am starting to think about just buying a drag turbo and taking it off when I need to smog. HRM. TOO expensive.

If only my lazy *** would just go and talk to the smog ref and figure out if swapping the B20Z's intake manifold for an LS manifold is legal. Since that swap would be about the cost of a damn turbo or cheaper......hrm. Decisions decisions decisions.
