i am so lost.check engine light

Default i am so lost.check engine light

Ok i got a simple ? but no clue on the awnser i rebuilt the motor in my 96 ex civic every since there has been a check engine light on and i have reset my computer and took it to the garage and had them put it on the computer and thats when my problem was realized my obd2 port has no power to it and putting out no data. has anyone seen this before or maybe know what it might be

Try a different code reader. Check all fuses. Check connectors on ECU.

Make sure the motor is running when pulling codes. Just in case your a noob.

Make sure you didn't swap a connector where another one should be. Like TPS and evap or iacv connectors.

The key was in the "on" position when you checked the code, right?? The engine doesn't nessacarily have to be running, but the key has to be on.

Do you have the original ECU in there or did you replace that also? There are wires going from your ECU harness to the DLC connector. Make sure none of those got pulled out while you were pulling out the harness.

Make sure the green connector by the ECU is plugged in.

Some scanners clearly state that you should have the engine off when getting codes and that turning the engine on could damage the code reader.

I saw someone turn an engine on when I told him not to. It turned the screen of the code reader purple.

For some you're just supposed to turn the car to accessories.

thxs yall the key was just in the on position and the ecu is original and i jus swaped the motor for another y8 so iono i will take it to the dealership and see if their computer will read thxs

Did you check the underhood fuse that protects the DLC? I think it's the interior light fuse.
