Default HX - D16Y5 true redline?

Have any of you HX owners put your stock motor to the dyno, and if so, have you messed around with the redline?

My HX feels like it continues to pick up power all the way to the fuel cutoff, doesn't seem to start dipping back down. Plus, I've heard of people throwing other ecu's on, and revving to 9k and still producing power. My engine setup is pretty much stock. I have an adjustable cam gear (due to my stock one snapping). I'm using this car for racing only, no more street driving, so I'm trying to string the engine out as much as possible (without spending much money ).

And anyone thats going to tell me it's not safe to string it out higher, I don't really care about that right now, if I blow the engine I'll deal with that later. It doesn't need to be running right now. TIA

Ony true way you'll know is if you dyno it. Then, it'll tell you if you are making power up that high, which I doubt.

Ya, I was hoping someone else already had dyno'ed it though. Guess I'll have to throw down the $50

Anyone else have some input? I'm not really trying to blow up the motor, but if it happens, it happens.

Oh man, you gotta take it past 5500, thats where it really opens up!

To be fair though, I'm about 1 second per 30 seconds behind s2k's at the autocross with my stock HX motor and ECU (EX tranny). I was pretty surprised by it. The handling is amazing with my current setup (not stock ), and thats what helped. I need to get some power to back it up if I'm going to really holdup to an s2k. The HX head seems kinda untouchable, due to the roller rockers, it doesn't seem to match up to any of the other d series heads. Although I think aftermarket y8 valves and valve springs will work on the y5 head. The bottom end matches exactly to the y8, so again I can get aftermarket rods there. It seems if I want to I can beef it up for 9-10k. I just need to know if the stock cam will be producing power that high.

I'll give it another week or so, then I'll slap my friends VAFC on and get it tuned.

bump before I head home to my noisey phone line and 19200 dialup up connection where it takes freaking 25 minutes just to post a bump. If that didn't make sense, don't stress about it, it's just a bump.

I'm not sure if you can, but if so, you'd also have to get a y5 cam
