Re: hx problem (clm)
If it's the stock HX motor, then Vtec should kick in early (~2500 RPM).
Has your car always done this or is it recent? I think your stock cam is running out of steam around 5500. Do they make cams for the HX?

I have an HX, and i do indeed feel a little push around 2700-3000 rpm. I don't feel any drop off at 5500, but i rarely take it that far, after 5000 there isn't much power left.

Re: hx problem (HXvtec)
First off you need to realise that youre racing an HX. As a fellow owner of an HX those stock motors are nothing. The vtec "E" kicks in at a little under 3k and even still youre only at about 90 some hp at the wheels and the tranny is geared like a little girl. If you really want to race anything but a metro do what I did and ditch that motor for a b18 or even a b16. Youll love it I promise.

When I used to push my HX... (back when I firts got it) the power started to drop at around 6000 rpms... But thats because my clutch started slippin' at those rpms...

Maybe it was a crappy fuel filter?
Did you put anything else thru like a fuel system cleaner or something?

Re: hx problem (shepworldwide)
I thought HX's had dual stage Vtec? At least that is what EVERYONE says. vtec-e kicks in at about 2500-3000 and actual vtec kicks in at around 5k.

Did you read the link that I posted above? The Hx has a single stage Vtec system that engages around 2500 rpm. Nothing happens at 5k. Ride around with your A/C on and the engagement should be much more noticeable.

Yes, open a helms manual. VTEC for hx is around 2300rpms.
Basicly all it does is switch the engine from a 12 valve operation to 16.
