search ...there was a thread about this a while ago. i THINK correct me if im wrong) the 2nd to last number is usually a 5 if its auto.wait.....im looking at two ECU's that I have in my room....one is manual and one is auto....neither one of them have a five....maybe that guy was full of ****. bump for you. good luck, thought i could help out. sorry

I'm STUPID man, i fotgot ...p28 is obd1 right? You can tell, but you have to take the top cover off the ecu , here is a link, also...if its an auto, you can convert it to manual, if a manual...you can convert to auto. but you cant do it on obd2 ( from what i hear, i tried to)
