How to stop water dropping into trunk from trunk lid
Hi all, apparently this is a common issue with 6th gen coupes/ si were after a rainy day or night if water is collected on the outside of the trunk lid and you open the trunk water works it way to the underside of the trunk lid, running down the outside edge and dripping into the trunk itself.
Ive had this issue since I purchased the car 4 years ago and the previous owner made me aware of it.
However im forever ruining mdf false floors as the water gets in and dampens the wood making it all mound and soft.
The trunk seals are all fine and water isn't getting in, nor is it leaking from the common or usual locations around the trunk.
Its just the trunk lid. Also worth noting is I had the trunk lid worked on to weld up and smooth the old holes were the spoiler use to be mounted.
After a cold rainy night the underside of the trunk lid builds up with condensation too.
Has anyone else encountered this issue or found a cure to it.
I would like it so that was I open the boot no water from the lid can run down and drop directly into my trunk.
Thanks

Re: How to stop water dropping into trunk from trunk lid
I developed a leak . I replaced the tail light gaskets & the leak continued. I pulled the trunk carpet after a car wash and finally located the leak . On mine there is plastic apparatus that Honda labels a air dam I think. It's held in by four pull tabs and one of mine was broken which where the water was making its way in . It was about $20-25 new for the part . Comes with a brand new gasket too.

Thanks for your reply, is yours a hatch or a coupe? The taillight gasket leak is common mainly in hatch cars. In reference to the pull tab, could you expand on were its situated in the trunk as I'm having a hard time finding it.
Thanks

id have to upload a video to show you better this issue I'm having. Could be down to a design flaw or could resolver it with something. just got to find a way to stop it collecting under the trunk lid and dropping into the trunk.

It's a coupe. It is located behind the trunk carpet on left side . I found the leak by removing the carpet. To remove the part you have to remove the bumper. It's right next to the sunroof drain. I don't know how to post pictures on this site . Here is a google image of the same type thing on another model.
