Default How to remove alternator from EJ6 w/ Y7

As title says I have an EJ6 w/ stock y7 and am trying to replace alternator.

I have no problems unblolting/disconnecting anything but I can't get the damn thing to come out!

Im assuming im going to have to remove some things but id rather not just tear everything out when there might be an easier way.

I am thinking im going to have to remove either brake master or driver axel.

Btw I have searched and watched videos but they dont seem to help me. If anyone has any tips for removing it(from bottom or top?)

Any help would be much appreciated.

Pull the axle, drop the alt. from bottom.

Is this the only way? Ive never removed an axle, is it relatively simple with a little bit of research?

it aint bad as long as your underside bolts aren't full of rust.

if you got an impact wrench poppin an axle out is a 4 minute job. If your twisting the wrench, make sure you got pb plaster on hand along with a torch

Well i dont think they are too rusty its a NC car so just average i guess. My problem is i dont have an impact and i dont even have the right socket for axel nut, its 1 1/4 right?

I thought there was a way from the top as well?

we had to remove the axle on my freinds 94 ex. So I'm not sure how it would matter...

any ways, you don't need an impact. All you need is a breaker bar, and a cheater pipe.

the axle nut is 32mm

Oh, i was just saying that because i just watched two vids, one with a guy with a y8 and one with an eg and they both slid them from the top somehow like it was nothing. I guess i will be walking to advanced. Thanks for all the help from everyone.

Edit: No one has removed the BMC to do this?

After much debate i decided to just pull the BMC and it worked like a charm. I only had to move the BMC a tiny amount to squeeze the alt through. Is there a reason you are so against this method?

Edit: If you are really curious go on youtube and search "how to remove alternator from 96 civic. He had a y8 though, or atleast y8 IM.
