Re: How to read an engine? (HBRIDER)
the d is the series of block, usually and in just about all cases its a single cam motor, except for the jdm zc motor, which is a dual cam d series..(please correct me if wrong)there is also the b series which is dual cam, usually found in integras... the 15 is how many liters the block/engine is... the last two digits, i have no clue, except that if its just a letter w/o a number following it, its a jdm block.... as far as v-tec, check the faq's at the top of this forum and click on it... v-tec explained and how v-tec works.....

d is what series it is. Im sure it stands for something specific but I don't know that that is. The 15 stands for 1.5l. And the letter letter and number at the end will tell you what block and head. A b18c5 is a b series 1.8l typeR engine I believe which is v-tec. Correct me if I am wrong. I would read in the faq. you can find more reliable sources.

Kinda besides the point of what the OP was asking but the b-series are found in more than just integras, and yes the itr motor b18c5 is vtec.
and yes..use the search and FAQ features theres alot about vtec and other stuff on here...

The d series had more DOHC motors than just the ZC my friends Rex came with one, I think the A6(may have been swapped) and I forgot the engine code on his late eighties teggy but it was a DOHC d series stock as well
