New to honda-tech- would like to know more about v-tech's
Im new to honda tech. But i would like to know more about honda v-tech's.
Im looking to get a honda civic dx coupe with the vtech. id like to know what v-tech motors are better/best and what are the most basic....i know some about them but id like to know more. if anyone could give me some info on them id really appreciate it thanks.

check the FAQs in the top of this section.
DX models didn't come stock with a Vtec Engine, so it's either a mini-me swap (non-vtec block with vtec head) or a vtec engine swap (engine that came with stock vtec)
The only D series engines that came with vtec were the d16z6 and the d16y8.
D series are SOHC (Single Over Head Cam).
There are various B series engines that came with Vtec. B series engines are DOHC (Dual Over Head Cams).
A lot of the B series came with vtec minus the LS/B20 if i'm not mistaken.

VTEC was designed to allow engines efficient at low and high engine revs.
Variable Valve
Timing with
Electronical
Control
Allowing the motor to be very fuel efficient at low engine speeds but at higher speed, with the adjustment of valve timing and ignition timing be just as efficient without any modifications to the motor.
