how often to change manual tranny fluid?
94 hatch cx. stock.
how often do i need to change my tranny fluid. i had a machanic told me on a honda manual it doesn't need to be change untill 200k. but i have other friends that change theirs every 6k. which is correct?

The head guy at Spoon said the tranny fluid is often neglected on Honda's and should be changed out regularly. IIRC, he recommended every oil change interval for full track cars. Every few oil changes on street cars should suffice.

Your fluid should be OK for 50.000 miles if you drive your car normaly and in PERFECT CONDITIONS... but perfect conditions are very much IMPOSSIBLE to meet so at least split that interval in half...
So 25.000 is a must, and everything before that is playing safe... and playing safe is a good thing

dont go back to that mechanic if thats the information he is giving you, god only knows what else he could screw up.
