Default How much gas you save with a b20?

I have a d16y8 which is great for gas but I want a little more power now. I'm thinking about a completely stock 99+ b20 motor with ls transmission. No mods besides a chip 28 with b20 basemap or an obd1 ls ecu. Does anyone know what kind of MPG I would be getting with this setup in my 97 civic? Would I be getting the same MPG as a d16y8 or less?

so you want more power but you also wanna save fuel?

it all depends on your driving. short shifts and when your cruising down a hill, take it out of gear. and dont race everyone on the road.

good driving will get you around 25mpg .

if you do some eco mods, maybe 28-30.

really? I thought that it would at least get me the same mileage or a little less than the d16y8 because the motor is in a lighter car. But I need someone to confirm this if anyone has this swap. The d16y8 is fine but I went from a powerful h2b so I miss the power lol

bigger engine, more power, uses more gas...

just because you put a 454 big block in a toyota truck doesn't mean you're going to get 4 cylinder fuel economy... (just an analogy)

If you want power and gas mileage get it boosted and tuned. 32MPG when I'm not trying to get around crazy Tennessee drivers.

I get around 30MPG averagely. Thats on a sedan with a b20z motor with b16 tranny. So im assuming the ls tranny should give u more.

I had almost this exact setup in a 96 cx hatch i built 3 years ago. Being i live in Canada, i got 500 kilometers per tank

my setup......

- 96 cx civic, no options
- 2000 B20Z engine
- 2000 LS tranny
- OBDI conversion w/PR4 ecu (p75 sucked)
- edelbrock header
- Toda flywheel
- twip loop exhaust

Car was wicked powerful and fun to drive! Faster than any gsr swap around here

Yeah I know but I figured that the CRV is way heavier which requires the motor to use more gas in order to power it. Btw the CRV gets around 25mpg so in a lighter car I was expecting around 30mpg.

Nice! That's my plan for my next project because I want to be able to pump 87 and at least have the torque that my h2b had. Btw 500 kilometers is 310 miles. How many gallons is the civics gas tank. 14 gallons? So I can do the math here lol
