If you care about the appearance of your car, don't even dream of taking it to maaco. Anybody who says they do good work have obviously never seen a real paintjob. Average cost for complete paint job, including door jambs, and all prep work is around $2000. Paint costs are around $400-$800 for dupont paints. Expect to pay more for the paintjob if theres alot of dings, or deep dings and scratches.
Bumpers are $150-200 for prep, paint, and clear. I don't know how much it would be if its already prepped. Fenders should be in the $100 range. Hoods are $200 inside and out. Some shops won't do engine bays or interior at all. Most will charge an extra 2-500 more for either one. $750-1000 for both. Probably alot less if they dont have to take anything out themselves.

I'm getting my car repainted in the summer, color change, full repaint inside and out with me stripping the car (even the engine bay will be painted). I'm spending about 2500-3000. If I was just to fix my rust and respary it the stock color then around 1500.
Do it right, do it once.

400 bucks for a decent job. black is probably the best color to have done at a place like macco, because honestly, they do nice flat paint jobs. problem is, the prep work sucks. but with black, you wont really notice overspray. just call some local places and get some prices.
$400?? That won't even cover the materials if you're using stuff like PPG.
Oh, and take it from personal experience..do NOT get black done at maaco! Their black paint NEVER comes out good. from straight on it looks alright, but when you catch it from an angle, you can see how dull it is.
$1500+ is what a REAL paint job is gonna run you.

since its white already im doing a CW or GPW(s2000 white)
and i got quoted $1200 for it from the guy thats taking out my dent tomorrow.
and yes ive asked around for tons of quotes and paint jobs are expensive but hey there is tons of work and materials involved. so yeah they will cost $1000+

So, it's a lot easier to paint from an existing color to a similar/same color. I wanted to go from red to blue, but I'm guessing that drastic of a change would mean repainting inside and out (thus costing a small fortune). Thanks for all the info. I'm looking into repainting my car come summer.

My buddy was quoted $4000 for a complete change over (from green to another color) engine bay, jams, etc...
Or how about his friend (I know him, but hes not someone I hang out with so I dont consider him MY friend) was quoted $1000 just to INSTALL a bodykit... not molded in, not painted... just installed!!!
What about $3000 to shave the moldings, door handles, and a few other things?

Ive been slowly doing the body work on the civic, it will pickup again once the weather starts warming up - gallon of paint, hardener and reducer, clear coat, HVLP gun, body prep (sandpaper, tape, etc) and a compressor will cost me under $500... and I will have the tools so should I decide im not half bad, I can paint more cars, like charge dad $500 to clean up the Porsche, means I got myself a free paint job and tools

That's because they don't use PPG, MACCO uses single stage.
They also charge for a 'sealer primer'..haha...riiiiiiiight. I wonder how many people actually fall for that....
Although, if you do the prep yourself...and get a BASIC color (nothing metallic at all.....AT ALL), it can look decent
I had a beater painted by them, and it came out FLAWLESS after I put in about 100 hours of prep work

If you are picky in the least bit about the apperance of your car, do NOT go to Macco. Paint is something that takes skill to do right, and you definitely get what you pay for when it comes to bodywork.
If anyone of you really want a nice paintjob, have patience, save up, and get it done right. You will be much happier.

For Maaco that isnt that bad. I have seen some dull *** paint jobs but that's not bad. Why pay 1500+ if some ****** is just going to jam their door into yours, or a rock is going to fly up and chip your bumber? I think paint comes after performance.
