I Passed BAR about 3 years ago, GSR into a 93 hatch. Just have to make sure the motor is running clean, and you have all of the proper smog equipment hooked up. If you fail, you can request a list of everything that you missed.

basically, u need the correct USDM ecu, all usdm smog equipment, sensors, no cel's and be able to pass the sniffer. all non-oem parts need carb #'s. you also need to tell them ur motor is the same model year as ur car, and must be teh same OBD spec

the motherfucking smog refs are fucken gay.
they fail u on some bullshit I failed because my car wasn't wired right wtf also told me I need a Del Sol Dohc Vtec Tranny.
alll I have to say is **** the refs **** them ALL.

That's not necessarilly true. I spoke to a ref in SoCal to see what would be required to pass mine if I move to LA and he said that as long at it's a "Known configuration" from that model year or later and all the smog equipment for that configuration is present and functioning it WILL pass. That means that you CAN have an OBD2 engine configured to OBD 1 specs with an OBD1 ECU. I asked him that question point blank and he said that it would pass.
Of course he could have just been blowing smoke up my *** but I was very specific with my questions.
