Default How many Swaps in the Same Shell??

Just woundering...like the title stated...

I ask this since I've been through:

1.D16B7...which the gasket blew shortly after a month of using the car.

2.Mini-me...using the same block...warped block...yes shoot me.

3.D16B8 (70hp Woot!)...lasted me 1 year..burned oil, but was still running.

4.D16y8...nice lil upgrade...lasted another year until after the crank pulley bolt snapped.

5.Manual swap to D16Z6 (was auto hehe) current set up. Someone here (NJ) sold me a tranny with a bad ISB and a burnt valve from another. Still getting me to school (130 miles daily)

right now, the Z6 gotta go after being with it for 2+ months.
I tried every SOHC there..except Y7 lol. An might as well move onto B-Series. Got an LS in my sights. If that don't go well..I'll slap a B16 Head on that sucker, and when I get done with school, I'll Get me a K-series for the car in thanks for hauling my sorry *** to work in school. What A Beater.

Lets see how my good running tracks plays out

So I ask again....How many swaps have you people done in the Same Shell???
Can You beat 6

BTW, this beloved car is a 94 rust free-Horizon Gray-foor door..not a typical Hatch

1. stock d16z6

2. JDM H22a

3. K20A2 w/6speed trans

The K is waiting for boost, its gonna be SICK. that is all that can be said about that car

In my 98 coupe:

1) Original Y8 with automagic tranny, greddy kit 10lbs, spun rod bearing

2) D15B VTEC swapped to manual, greddy kit, blew trans

3) GSR, first all motor, then turbo, still good, thought I was going to sell the car.

4) Another D15B, NA, then SC60 turbo, blew ringlands at 260whp, then ls/vitaras NA.

Now the ls/vitara D15B is going into another car and another stock D15B will be going back in.

So that will be 5 soon.

No bragging here, I want to keep one motor in it, that's it. Probably going to be DD after the stock D15B is in. Then put bcak on A/C and PS. Well I will probably turbo it again, maybe T3 low boost, <10psi.

ish, I hate having to swap motors with all this optional crap in the way..AC PS Cruise.

And that thing about going turbo..well did have a T3, BOV, Mani, and a few pipes, but decided against it..hidden costs and going to school.

I Plan on hopefully retiring this as a full track car

2.got a z6 long block from h-t motor biggest waste of money ever idiot did not tell me he had loosen the crank pulley bolt and it flew off on the highway going like 65 and ran over the pulley and on top of that the motor was smoking like hell
3. got another motor of h-t another waste of money and this time i got a complete d16y7 member said it ran good slapped z6 head on it turned on but loud tapping after couple days i say expletive it im taking off the oil pan touch rod number 3 and the thing had so much play on the crank took off rod cap comming to find out the thing didnt even have rod bearings both were gone
4. bought a d16a6 from a friend was gonna slap the z6 head on it and i was putting it together then a noticed while putting on drivers side mount i didnt have the right mount and bracket for it to work so i was only left with option and that is number 5
5. i had a vx block with 90 k in the backyard knew the condition of it and it was great slapped the z6 head and worked great it is currently getting me to work and back with no problems and wat people say on h-t is not all that true vx block with z6 head is not a bad idea and its not all that slow i beaten some cars with this motor i/h/e

Thats a four-door? kick ***, i wanna put a 2/3dr bumper on mine too, did it bolt right up or did you have to modify it?

nice car. and definitely go b-series, but pick it like you pick the right woman, you want one you can bring home to mom not a one night stand. If the motor looks like its been through hell, hold off and find another even if you have to pay more. a solid motor is worth more than 2 busted ones, to me anyways.

I say expletive the B16 head.

Get a <100k LS block, that **** is a reliable engine. Once you start dicking with it and LS/VTEC and **** it becomes less reliable (I'm sure somebody's going to backfire saying they had an LS/VTEC for X years and it hasn't broken down) but that doesn't negate anything, swapping heads like that still makes it less reliable.

Just buy an LS, 142hp, like 115-120 at the wheels w/ I/H/E then save up until you have enough for your K swap.

Personally if I were you I'd buy a JDM D15B from hmotors and call it a day, but do what you wish.

The only reason you're having so many problems with it is you're being stupid about it.

Buying randoms hit from people in nJ that's probably stolen to begin with. Buy from somebody reputable and you don't have that problem.

LS or D15B JDM from hmotorsonline gets my vote

Can't beat 400 or whatever it is for what kind of engine it is and the condition it's in from hmotors, same with the LS (but I don't know the price).

at that idea, buy one reliable motor instead of a bunch of half *** reliable motors from locals and you won't have this proble.

It Pretty much bolted up, just have to make the holes that go to fenders a little larger.

An Yah..I hear yah on that women thing..the thing is appearance isn't what its cracked up to be...Its hard to Look and test a damn motor when its been pulled

An Yah...I'm a dumb *** for even giving a chance to the most of these ***-holes in NJ. I won't say names an all, but my first post says it all. A single isn't going to be worth the headach anymore so thats out of the question, an LS from a site may cost a bit more then what i can afford for now..college is killing me, but things are starting to ease up on me thanks to more aid.

Keep on posting..this is funny and makes me feel better knowing i'm not the only one

Thanks for the advice
