how long will it last??
Hey peeps, I have a simple question. I have a 98 civic ex auto and it has 159+k miles on it. It runs great, no oil burn off, still pretty quick and its never failed me once. I floor it at least once whenever I drive it. I always change the oil every 3k miles and change the spark plugs regularly. I've got an AEM short ram, ngk blue wires, plugs, magnaflow high flow cat, and a straight through muffler. I was going to swap in a gsr engine but am getting married in september so i have to save my money. My question is how much more can this little y8 take? How many more miles do ou think it still has on it? It has a little ruff idle but any motor with this high milage would. Im going to swap it later but do you guys think it will last a while?? Thanks in advance.

it will last a while man... i got a 96 d16y8 with 154K miles and its greddy turbo'd . same thing as yours, no smoke, no oil burning, no blow by, nothing, it runs great and hella fast.
i just did the minor maintenance like cam seal, crank seal, water pump, timing belt, all accesories belts, valve adjustment and you will be fine. and you should do these maintenance too.
my honda mechanic did all that maintenance for $275 parts/labor.

Re: how long will it last?? (All Motor EH2)
It has PLENTY of life left in it. From what you say you do maintanence wise, that little engine will serve you for many years to come (if you so choose to keep it). I also have an auto y8 in my civic and I pound the **** out of it. And it has yet to break on me.
If anything I would be more worried about the GSR engine you get, you never know what kind of abuse it went through before it gets into your hands.

Keep doing your regular maintenance to it like you have been and it'll last you plenty more than enough time than you need.

lolz, i bought my 90 crx from this old lady. gets her oil changed every 5000k miles or so and the tranny fluid?? i dont even think there's any left in there. well it still runs fine. shifting into second makes a cool "woosh"(my n/a turbo maker) because the tranny is f'd up but it still runs nice. i just need a new tranny. oh its got 243,000 miles on it. still strong.
