Default How long should it take for the ecu to regain emission codes

over here they plug a thing into your car that allows them to read your emmision codes.. well I just changed my battery last night so it erased all the codes and when I went in to get DEQ done they couldnt test me because the no codes popped up

Don't know the year or model you drive, but on our newer vehicles the owner's manual describes what's involved and how to do it if you're in a rush. Otherwise, the system will set the correct codes over time with normal usage.

I have a 00 si.. how long is normal usage? I need it done by tomorrow sometime, you think its possible? Does the car actually have to be driving or can It just be running like all night?
