How to identify type of engine in '92 Civic?
New to this...Can anyone tell me how to accurately identify the type (ie. displacement) of engine I have in my '92 Civic? The V.I.N. is supposed to tell me but I can't find a legend to read the VIN properly. Also, the engine code number is supposed to be on the passenger side of the engine near the exhaust manifold in these cars, but for the life of me I can't find it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: How to identify type of engine in '92 Civic? (civictildeath)
Thanks a lot...that really helped...so now i know I have a D15B7 engine...
I was wondering if anyone could help me with something...The car won't start right now...Just before it died, i noticed some irregular idle speed - around 500 rpm when it should be about 750. Then it died and it has not started since.
I checked the fuel pump and filter - i am pretty sure the fuel system is okay. I have a spark in all plugs.
Could it be the spark plug wires?
Pretty stumped on this one...

Spark fuel and compression and you have a running motor.
is your check engine light on? did it die on its own or did you do something?

Pretty much died on its own...I haven't checked the compression yet, don't have the right tools for that.
Is there any easy way to check for compression, keeping in mind that I can't start the car yet?
