how to id transmission?
i believe i have a b16 tranmission. but when at 65mph my rpms are just about 4500 or so. now im not sure what tranmission i have. the vin stickers are on it. are there any websites or stamps that would ID for sure which tranmission i have gsr/ls/si??

do you have a cable trans? those rpms are high for 5th at 65mph. i have s1 trans and im at 5000 at 83 mph.

the codes they have listed would be on the vin plate?
in the vin on the tranny i see YL1.
There is no YL1 in the chart on the link.

ok just took the car out at 70mphs im at 4000 rpm.
called the local honda dealer and read them the vin plate off the transmission its a 00 si tranny.
i just thought 4000rpm at 70 was a lil low from what i remember reading.

Look at the tranny code, MUCH LIKE the ECU code the tranny code will have the same markings as the ECU code will have.
Something along the lines of
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx-P28-XXXXXXXXXXX
No, that does NOT only prove true for ECUs (as many will argue), it's also on the EX/Si tranny code.
