Re: Verify Tranny vin (SnoFlake EG)
Im sorry if this is too off topic but I have had 2 GSR trannies.. No vin number just sticker barcode/serial number and they both started with Y80.. Yet a friend of mine has S80 on his GSR tranny that came with his swap..
Whats the difference?? And what do you mean by verify the tranny vin? To check if it is stolen or not? I dont think these tranny serial numbers are associated with the cars vin number in any police database..

Re: Verify Tranny vin (hadehatch)
its a sticker vin as well on mine..i want to verify it is a GSR tranny...because i have never really pated any mind to it till today when i was puttin my friend LS head off this car and noticed his tranny was a S80 as well...and he's a full LS swap...
as far as i know S80's can be LS's and GSR's...i just want ot make sure i have a GSR tranny and not a LS

Unfortunately there is NO way to tell any hydro Integra trannies apart from exterior cues in terms of whether it's a GS-R or LS tranny. There are S80 Type R, LS, and GS-R trannies.
Again you'll need to at least split the case and count the teeth on the ring gear and counter shaft/pinion shaft.
</TD></TR></TABLE>
Looks like you're going to have to open it up and check..

I forgot about that.. You can also tell by the speed and rpm.. For reference my GSR hatch is at 3500-3800 at 75mph.. 4k at 80mph
