how i did my rear speaker install
So here's the scoop:
After crashing in my boosted ferio i recently acqurired a DX hatch. I realized that there are no rear speakers and this situation left two of my speakers stranded. Here's what i did:
1: i drilled into the sheet frame and bolted bolted in my 6.5" clarion speakers. t
2: i laid out a pattern on the plastic pieces that came with the car. using a dremel tool with a metal cutting bit and a jigsaw, also with a metal cutting blade, i began to cut out the desired shape
3: i stretched some microfibre fleece over the plastic. upholstery spray adhesive was used.
4: don't forget to spray the back and tuck the fabric into the tight spaces. this is an important step. otherwise, the fit won't be right.
5:finished products
6: installed at night. sorry for dark pics.
in total it cost me 2$ candadian for the fabric
the glue was 7$ a can. but i had some left over from a past project.
total work time: 2 hours.
overall i am very pleased with the fit and finish of the project. it's really nice to hear sound from the rear.

will that fabric last?
One way I would've done it is to poke holes in the plastic panel within circular diameter, something similar like in the pic below (but probably not as much holes though, that would take too long)

Re: how i did my rear speaker install (White95SiHB)
i thought about drilling the plastic in some funky pattern. the difficulty would have been to make both sides the same.
the micro fibre fleece should not be an issue. I compared it to actual speaker cloth. the weaves were only marginally stronger on the speaker cloth, but for a fraction of the price, i said why not. the only thing i am worried about is the glue holding up in the winter. but i guess i will have to wait a few more months for that

a 6x9 speaker can fit, it would just take a few seconds to find the correct positioning, but there is definitely space to mount the 6x9 in that area. I would mount your speaker like 6 inches more forward, and i foresee it havint to be mounted on a slight angle.

Re: (menkio)
you can just go to the junkyard or honda and get the plastic mounting brackets and the cover (so you dont have to cut) from a Si hatch, the wires are even there too..

Re: (civiccpedx)
Yeah, that would be a good idea to do on the coupes.

They can easily be added. My dad's DX came with them but only because the first owner had them installed from the dealer. He also had the armrest (normally fount in the sedans) installed too.
I actually have an extra set going for sell if anybody is interested. The entire rear EH3 interior paneling and seating in black too.

Nice job, I think I might do what you did because I lost my panels somehow.
