You could always be ghetto, grind away the rust, bondo, sand and repaint.

Unfortunately, after speaking to many reputable body shops in my area, I have conceded that there are only 2 ways to fix it right:

1. Cut away a large area around the rust (that **** is like cancer) and have new sheetmetal formed and welded in

2. Buy new panels

Is this possible on something like a 92-95 hatchback (rear quarter panel), it seems like one awfully large panel?

EDIT - Just looked up majestic honda, you can buy the unpainted panel. It is a rather large piece and costs $325, shipping not included. Actually a bit cheaper than I expected it would be.

If you are not comfortable with doing the welding I'm sure a local body shop would do it for you... Good Luck!

the only kind of quarter panel that i know of that you can get is a simple "weld in" patch panel. One should only cost about 50$.

Unfortunately, the honda quarter panles are bad spots for rust and theres no bolt in panel replacement like a fender. All body work is ghetto and its all a temporary fix as far as i'm concerned. the bondo will crack and the welds will rust and !!

if you don't care and you just want to pass safety, then grind as much rust off as you can and fiberglass over the hole yourself. Cutting and welding is the best fix tho forsure.

No they won't. Not if you TIG weld.

And if you are good with bondo it is not going to crack unless you get in an accident.

pick your flavor, bondo or fiberglass, they both go on in the same way, have instructions on the box (can pail). if passing saftey is all yoru concerned with, you will need a grinder, a simple angle grinder will work, a wire wheel does a good job at removing rust aswell as paint. next step is to apply bondo/fiberglass, then sand, can do it by hand, but a power sander will save your fingers, start with around 80 grit, go to 120, then 500-800, make sure if you have wet-sand paper that you do it wet. after that wash the area with warm soapy water, dry with a lint free cloth, throw some primer on it, and some automotive paint in a spray bomb and you have your welfare job, plus you can paint over it later if you decide to do the whole car.
