Hey guys i'm hit once again with a delimna, this one seemed fairly small but after i realized i couldn't get it all off i fell into a slump..i tried some degreasers and so far i got the old stuck gasket down to a minimum but now i cant even get around the edges of the studs.

Anyone have a trick as to how to remove this stuff and get to the surface..

here's a picture of what im talking about..this is stopping me from putting on the new intake manifold gasket...any help?

wow what a pain in the nuts.. ive had a smaller issue, it wasnt this bad, but some carb cleaner a razor blade and choice words finally got it all off.

to take off the stud put on one nut the wrong way and another nut the right way on the stud, and to take off the stud you tighten up both bolts towards to eachother and to take off the stud, use the wrench on first nut you put which acts like if something is holding the stud like a vice grip. hope it works

get a die grinder or electric drill and get 3M Roloc Discs(pepboys or any auto parts store sells them) and sand it down no effort at all

Thanks man you gave me an idea...i was restricted to only a razor blade and boy did it work if u moisten the gasket while u chip away at it. I got it all off..thanks man.

ha good ****. I had a hell of a time with the gasket on my oil feed line if was just baked on there and its such a small area I kept cutting myself with the razor blade.

At least your car gave fore warning that it was gonna give out in due time...Mines just went out on my as i was doing about 75 on a 45mph turn and luckily i had enough momentum to get to the next exit and pull into a train station parking lot...I was wondering why when i was giving it gas the RPM's kep falling down and down and down and then all the lights on my cluster went on...i tried starting it while it was still rolling towards the exit and it "laughed at me" then it would start with a clinking clanking sound...so i drove it til it wouldnt move anymore at all.

u got a beautiful car by the way...I had to do the exact same on the pulling the motor...i spun a rod bearing..

And of course this is what happened yesterday, the icing on the cake..the motor was supposed to be going back in today...

I might have an extra knock sensor, I'll have to look. I'm pulling my H23 right now, I got a hoist though.....not really bragging, thats 250 bucks I DIDN'T want to spend

haha thats my motor coming out, its on the engine stand right now me and 2 of my boys used 2 floor jacks to get it down, it still ended up falling about as far as your is from the ground onto the trans, the oil pan side stayed on the jack luckily.

Im gonna tow it over to my buddys house who has a hoist when everythings buttoned back up. he just didnt want my pos taking up garage space for a month, hehe.


Yeah we where about to put everything back together this weekend until I realize I had to take my old pistons to a machine shop to get my damn rods back.. so I gotta wait till tmr to get that done and hopefully get stuff back together next weekend. just need to pray my oil seals on the turbo are ok because they where leaking. but its brand new so hopefully it was just the jank drain line backing up on me.
