How do i tell if my B16 tranny has got LSD?
Hi,
how do i know whether my tranny has LSD? When i rotate the rotors clock-wise at the left side...the right side will turn anti clock-wise in a different direction...and there is no LSD print on the gearbox.... only a sticker that states Y21....something.
Any ideas?

How about jacking the car up...with both front wheels up. Hold one wheel...and have someone push on the throttle. If u can keep the one wheel ur holding from spinning...while the other front wheel spins....then it does not have lsd. Anyone think this will work?

Basically, if you move the wheel like the car is going forward, and the wheel on the other side also rotates where the car will go forward, you have LSD.

i didnt have lsd on my b16 tranny and i could still leave two tire marks so sorry that doesnt work. 
like they said above check for the bar where the axles go into the tranny.

You have already answered your own question. If the wheels spin in the same direction you have LSD, if they spin in opposite directions, you don't.
Basically, if you move the wheel like the car is going forward, and the wheel on the other side also rotates where the car will go forward, you have LSD.

EASIEST way is to turn the wheels whichever way with the front end jacked up. Both wheels should turn the same way IF it has LSD, factory or not.
If they turn both the opposite direction, than it does not have LSD.
If they turn both the opposite direction, than it does not have LSD.

Easiest way to test, involves no mess and absolutely NO physical labor! Go find a spot on a hill where you can place one wheel on dry pavement and the other on wet pavement. There is frequently water running down the edge of streets with curbs, so this is quite easy to find.
Roll up the hill a little and stop, one wheel on dry, one on wet. Then try accelerating fairly quickly. Don't do a burnout, just something harder than normal.
If you start to move forward, you have an LSD. If you just sit there with the wheel on the wet pavement spinning, you do NOT have an LSD.

so, my all of my friend BRAND new itr's don't have lsd then. all the cars that i bought new itr trannies from the dealer, and installed them myself must not have lsd. wow, honda really jipped about 60 of my friends. good racket they have going. do i have to take some video to prove this or what?!
"when the vehicle rounds a curve, the differential allows the outer wheel to rotate a little faster than the inner wheel. when this takes place, the short and long pinion gears rotate, and walk around the side gears. if for example, THE RIGHT SHAFT IS ROTATED IN A COUNTERCLOCKWISE DIRECTION with the differential carrier held stationary, the force is transmitted through the right side gear, short pinion gears and long pinion gears to the left side gear, CAUSING THE LEFT SHAFT TO ROTATE IN A CLOCKWISE DIRECTION. this allows the outer wheel to turn more times than the inner wheelwhen the vehicle goes around a turn."
on the very next page, 15.5 it continues with a
"Differential Operational Check"

2. raise the front of the vehicle, and support it with jackstands.
3. with the engine off, shift the transmission into first gear.
4. rotate either front wheel by hand, and check that the other front wheel rotates in the OPPOSITE direction.
5. if the opposite front wheel does not rotate, or if you cannot spin the front wheels at all, the limited slip is faulty and should be replaced.
just in case you don't have the 97 supplement, i also looked in my 98 helms integra service manual. the exact same information is posted on pages 15-21 to 15-23.
now do you know what i am referring to guy? lol, i guess you don't see my kind of humour.

should be stamped lsd on tranny....also you can look in the drive shaft holes to tell also....i don't have a pic to show ya what it should look like....im me for more info

MiGs,
My suggestion to you is this:
Try it.
1. set the parking brake.

Then see if yours does that. If they spin the SAME direction then you got a faulty tranny or got screwed into thinking it is LSD equipped. If they DO spin opposite ways, then congrats, you've got a LSD

Is your car in gear when you do this? I know that when i jack my 01 ITR up and rotate 1 tire, the other turn in the oposite direction. Same as Jason's (Typer98) 98 ITR.

i have a GSR tranny w/LSD... u put the car up, and spin one wheel and the other
one should rotate the same way... then u have LSD... don't think i'm wrong
'cause i learned it at school... i'm in Honda Program in Toronto...
