Default How do i know if my vtec solenoid is in good working condition?

How do i know if my vtec solenoid is in good working condition? anyway to test it?and how to clean it ?

Hook a 12V source to the plug, and ground the housing. If you listen carefully, you'll hear a click.

that means i have to unplug the connector first ,right ?
