Default how do i know?!

i know i asked about ecu's earlier today but this is for a friend and i'm wondering as well... my buddy bought a p30 ecu at a swap meet a few nights ago and it came with 5 chips... how does he know which ones are the best for him? and i guess we'd have to hook them up to a tuning program to see the maps... but i'm wondering the same thing as well

Make sure it is soldered in there correctly, many people in PA sell socketed PCM's with just the socket, and none of the other resistors that are needs for the PCM to activate the socket (because it doenst have anything in it) I would suggest running the stock map, if its predominantly a stock car. Honda's fuel trim values can adjust up to 25-30% either direction, so if your mods are conservative, stick with a stock map. Some of them can delete important sensors I would rather have (like the knock sensor, and kicking VTEC well below 5000rpm).

The hondata connector is not a socket, but instead a long set of pins that stick up where a socket would be, so the hondata plugs in.

the p30 ecu is a rare ecu id just try to convert it back to stock and rent it out to people trying to bar their swaps

or just sell it for a lot of money,

make sure yo rent it to local people and make them leave a car with a set of keys and a sighned pink slip with you, thats what my homie did and if they ran we wouldve sighned the pink slip and taken the CAR

oh i see... so i guess it's not for hondata.... but i think the guy just made that up cause he didn't even know what it was... he was parting out a wrecked car that he bought at a junkyard and he was just like "what's an ecu?" and then after we told him where it was he was like " oh ya that silver thing".... i was thinking idiot?! anyways he had a bunch of chips as well... i think my buddy paid like 40-60 bucks for it.

it works too... we ran the stock map in his beater and it ran like a charm... we didn't mess with the chips though

throw the chips away or just keep them in a drawer for when and if you dyno tune that thing anway its an obd1 p30 thats bar legal and smog legal with a b16, worth a little more that 60 bucks last i saw one it went for 150-180

tho you can just run a chipped p28 and they might not know
