If you have small light weight wheels and low rolling resistance tires should help...My CX has light weight 15's and I am low with no correction and a bunch of stuff done to it and I get 46+mpg so I dought that you are getting worse than me with the vtec E motor in your car...I have also have done a little lightening of the car but I have 4 bowling *****, 1 jack, and 2 jackstands in the back...along with my spare and a bunch of crap.
What MPG are you getting?

Driving technique is the easiest and cheapest way to improve fuel economy. Try taking off slower and smoother, shift at a lower rpm (like around 2500 or so), cruise in 5th gear as often as you can, let off the gas on downhills, try to keep it around 60-65 on the interstates, inflate your tires up to 40 psi (or the max on the sidewall if you don't mind a stiffer ride). Just from doing these things alone in my hatch, I went from getting 40-41mpg to 49-51mpg. These are all simple things anyone can do, and they are free! It is difficult slowing down if you are used to speeding, but your FE will jump up if you do. You could also give your car a basic tune-up if you haven't done so in awhile. Change fuel filter, air filter, plugs and wires, dizzy cap and rotor button, run some injector cleaner through a tank of gas. If you want more tips, check out this site. These guys are getting crazy mileage, but are doing more extreme things to get it. http://www.gassavers.org
