i understood what you said, i said "what?" as inquisitive to why you have a bra on your civic, cause for one they are ugly and two when your paint fades like it usually does, under the bra it'll look different , but it is your car. just take it off and wash it and leave it off is my opinion.

your post is almost completely irrelevent to the thread, he asked if he needs to take it off to wash his car or not. he wasn't asking anyones opinion on how it looks.
back on topic:
i dont think there is any special way to wash a car with a bra on, either take the time to take it off and wash it, or dont, either way, it wont matter too much. its just washing a car.
i would think if you wanted the bra to stay in good shape over time, it would probably be best to take it off before washing, being soaked in detergents and dried out over and over doesnt seem like it will go over so well with the cotton layer on the inside.

I prefer to take it off, but it's a paint since the mask fits so tight on the bottom of the hood.
It really doesn't get too dirty under there usually (and I live in WA). As long as you keep up on your paint, a clearcoat shouldn't really have a lot of "fading" issues. The clearcoat protects the paint underneath to a degree.

I used to have that exact OE honda hood bra on my 1992 Si HB and I always took it off to wash the car. There is usually a distinct dirt line where the bra coverage stops, and any dirt that is trapped under the bra just beats into the paint leaving shitty scuff marks.
Regardless if he asks for opinions here he's going to get them. I'm no different - I'm gonna offer mine from having owned one myself. I don't like them. They are supposed to offer protection but only make the paint mismatch if you ever remove the bra, and like I said before the bra does leave some damage on the paint because even though it fits well at highway speeds it will buffet some in the wind and rub the paint.
I also happen to not like the way they look any more either. Back when I had mine in 1997-1998 I thought they were awesome, but I guess I've got it stuck in my head now that bras used to be cool 10 years ago.
