what do you think well be better. All i really need it for is to get rid of my secondary butterly. Im running a gsr motor in my hatch with i/h/e and a skunk2 intake manifold. The hondata s300 will run me around 550 (plus i need a laptop) and the chip ecu should be around 180. What will be better?

no doubt chipped ecu, unless you plan to boost in the future or something, just disabling the secondary runners can be done simply w/ a chipped ecu, no need to run a standalone or piggyback.

chipped ecu will be fine. just get a chip to go along with your mods.

NO NO NO NO NO... i got a eg with a gs-r motor and im running a p28 ecu. I bought a chipped p28 from jhp and it was fine but i bought my friends old hondata s200 and my buddy works for a shop and tuned it for me .. DAMN hondata is worth every penny, there is no doubt in my mind that if you try both you will agree. Sure hondata's more money BUT to me its worth every penny.

ps: hondata s200 is about 275 then to get it tuned about another $300-350.
MY buddy works for a shop here in the area and he gets me free dyno runs

so the hondata pulled 14hp more to the wheels than the chipped ecu did? quite a bit of difference there. i'd opt for the hondata also then.

a chipped ecu will do the same things as hondata, you just need a comprable tuner/burner. the only differance thats worth noting is that w/ hondata you got more features and can change the tune instantly w/ a laptop, but you can do most of the same w/ crome or uber, just takes a little more time.

Hondata only gave him more power because he got tuned with it.

I've got a Phearable.net ECU, which cost me $80 to get chipped. It includes Neptune for tuning, a 2-step, and a basemap for my application.

I'd go with the chipped ECU that's Neptune-ready like mine is.

Hondata and chipped ecu are damn near the same thing. No matter what youll want to get it tuned. If you get hondata you wont have a basemap (unless you get someone to do one for you) and either way youll have to tune. So really it depends on how much you want to spend.

BTW: Crome/Neptune/etc can get you major power just as well as Hondata, it all depends on y our tuner
