Honda Civic Stock Tachometer Problem
I recently bought a 1993 Honda Civic LX and the tachometer does not work properly, it is very inaccurate. I have a video on youtube showing exacly what its doing, here is a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbXVKvTKNsQ. Please watch the video and let me know what you think the problem is and how do I fix it. The car is completely stock and has a five speed manual transmission. It was like this when I bought the car.
At the beginning of the video, I accelerated at a normal speed through all five gears, and then I came to a stop and accelerated at about half throttle in first gear and full throttle through second gear and then shifted into third and stopped again. The audio does not lag in this video, that is what it really is like.

I agree, looks like a bad cluster.
Swap it out temporarily and find out for sure.

You could take the cluster apart and take the tach out and spray it with electronic contact cleaner. and yes you can replace just the tach.
