Default Honda Civic B16a Rebuild questions.

Looking to rebuild my engine since it seized up.

its a b16a

I know ill need a new oil pump, water pump, engine bearings, uhh piston rings the full gasket kit, a thermostat and a timing belt, now the question I have is on the pistons..can I put the CTR pistons that they sell on Ebay the Nippon ones onto my stock rods and crank?..i would much rather put those on than the ones they offer on the rebuilds kits and also would it be smart to get my engine bored over to 81.5mm? Also I dont think ill need to get a new crank right? maybe just have it resurfaced or whatever it is they do to them to make sure it is balanced? and would it be smarter to convert from the b16 to b18c crank but that would mean id need longer rods and custom pistons?...i am VERY lost in this thing learning as I go! I plan on also building my head little by little but for now want it to run stronger than just stock!

planning on having everything machined and cleaned out real nice, maybe port and polishing the head if it makes sense and I have the money as well!.

I dont know where this post is supposed to go so im sure it will be moved lol thanks.

Assuming you didn't spin a rod or crank bearing, your crank and crank journals should be fine. You should have a professional machine shop check the block and head for warping, honing, and a thorough cleaning. Do you know why the motor seized?

There seems to be mixed reviews of Nippon pistons. Personally, with something like engine internals, I would spring for CP or Weisco. You definitely get what you pay for in the parts world.

You can't just "convert" from a B16A to a B18C. The block itself is physically different. The B16A has a deck height of 203.25mm. The B18A/B have a deck height of 211.84mm. The B18C and B16B have a deck height of 212.39mm.

Yeah Idk what i was thinking about the whole converting to a b18c..and also yeah a while back the car had an oil leak then it got fixed but i guess something happened to where it started to leak again and it ran out of oil on a long trip..
seized up and just stopped so that is why, but I am def taking the block to get cleaned, decked and everything.

If that's the case you'll know what needs to be done once you pull it apart. The engine may have gotten so hot the internals fused together. It may be a better decision to find a B16/B18 short block and start anew.

Pull it apart, post some pics of the damage

If it seized up from lack of oil, expect to throw the motor in the dump. Don't waste any money on parts until after you've ripped it all apart to see what the damage really is.

The crank is for the birds......

But I dont see much reason to believe the head will meet the same fate.
Expecially if the motor was not up in the RPM's or high load condition during the failure.

Sounds like a gnar kill oil leak you had there also to completely starve it for oil

the head still had some oil in there after everything was said and done and the dip stick still reads that it has a little bit of oil in the engine maybe not enough to lubricate it all but it still had some in there, had to do some other things so I will find out exactly whats going on there within the next few days!

Opened up my engine yesterday, head had 1 bent valve everything else was fine, got down to the bottom and a rod blew, surprisingly did not go through the block, the thing that it did do was mess the bottom of the cylinder up which I think I can still reuse the block since the piston does not travel all the way down there.
