This is one hell of a crazy idea, but maybe you can call up your local Honda Dealership and get a quote!

Prices vary everywhere and changing an axle isn't that hard. Most ANY mechanic can do it. At the dealership, you'll be paying an arm + a leg and maybe some money. I say just let your mechanic do it. Not that hard of a job...

i'd offer to do it for $40 if you were in cali

I tried, they cant do them over the phone apparently?

By the time my mechanic could do it i could have rented a car, driven to cali, paid you the 40 bucks to change my axle, and drove back.....

How much you think they will charge about? Like give me a number to work with, or any good mechanics in the west chester area (PA)...gah im desperate...and im afraid i will mess it up if i do it myself...

axel change are easy
the hardest part is getting hte axel nut off
but all u have to do is use a jack on the breaker bar to break it lose

getting hte ball join u use this method to do it
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=887859

its not worth paying others to do things that only takes 30min-1hr

Where is the full write up that one of the mods did on an axle change?

I remember seeing it with my old car when i heard a click from my axle, but than i sold it and forgot about it....

Please post it if you seen it.

And i head it would be less than $150 for Honda to do it? I am so desperate i would fork over 150....

I still may try it myself, so please post up that write up! thanks

Holy shizzle...you have no idea how easy this is to do.

If you have no tools what-so-ever, and the dealer is going to charge you about 200 bills - you can surely get the required hand tools and jack for well under that, still come out ahead of the game AND have tools for the next job you need to do.

Seriously, it takes all of 20-30 mintues to change one....an hour if you've never done it.

The only 'special' tools I'd say you need are a 10lb mini-sledge (to whack the LCA off of the lower ball joint and along with a piece of wood, to knock the axle out of the hub), beefy flathead screwdriver (to pry the other axle end out of the tranny - NEVER pull on the axle, **** can become seperated inside of it), and a 32mm socket for the axle nut. Everything else is standard hand tools. You'll also need a catch pan to drain the tranny fluid into before you pull the axle out.
