Default outer cv joint grease

i noticed my outer axle joint is spitting out grease from the boot, guess i need a new axle boot. my question is do you really need to use the special grease that honda includes in its axel boot kit? was planning on using replacement boots and some generic axle grease that i have lying around. fyi honda uses different kinds of grease for the inner and outer axles

the grease they give you is fine, i use mobil lithium grease in the grease gun when i replaced the boots. its much easier to use the gun than to use a little package of grease. less messy.

a boot kit from an auto parts store is about 15 bucks. not bad. might as well replace the whole cv joint if your boot was torn for a while. the joint can become damaged. since you have to go through the same process of taking the wheel, brake assembly and hub off.

you can't just use any type of grease cv joint grease is special. ther's very little info out there but redline cv-2 is recommended. again do not use whatever grease you feel like, many cv joint grease is fortified with moly but you cannot just use regular moly grease from a random tub you bought at autozone, not the same stuff, must say cv joint grease on the label

that is the wrong type of grease, will it work for a while, yes, will it last as the correct type of grease? no
