hey guys need some help with my eg hatch
Hey whats up honda tuning, I got a customer with a eg hatch and the problem is that the center console is getting very hot like burn your skin hot. it only is getting hot around the cup holder and shifter area. all the heat shields are there and I am pretty sure the car is not running lean, I can smell the exhaust and it smells like it is running rich. If I take the car out on the highway and get on it I can actually feel it getting hotter and I can smell somthing burning, maybe it's the undercoat. anyway I realy need help, I was wondering if I can get some kind of heat wrap or heat shield. or maybe thats just how they are. any help would be greatly appreciated.

My shifter used to get hot on my 92 dx but it was a short shifter and I had removed the heat shield. The cup holder and the interior wasn't getting as hot.
As suggested, find what is in close proximity to the spot that is getting hot and you might have an answer.

wow, never heard of that. anyway, it sounds like the exhaust is is heating up the shift linkage. great, now i have to worry about this as well as scraping the ground.

I had it on the lift and nothing is touching anything, all the shields are there but there is nothing where the linkage is, but I lifted up my civic and it was the same way and that car is all stock. but the muffler is up into the rear bumper and the the bumper is cut out for the muffler but just a little bit so maybe the exhaust is too close the body thanks guys I will check it out.
