Hm, we own the car, and as far as we know it's all legit, but like I said...the dealer said the stereo was from an Accord. Would that even make a difference?

The dealer needs the serial number from the back of the radio, and proof that it was purchased legally.

call or go to the dealer with the radio they can tell you right there. You might have to show proof of the car it came from

it's super easy... i just did it the other day... took 5 minutes... didn't have to show proof of anything... just my ID...

My local dealer asked for my info and wanted 5 or 10 bucks (can't remember the exact price) for the code. I said forget it and went home in search of my code which I know they gave it to me when I bought the car. It was in the packaged that they gave me. Took me a while but I finally found it. I ain't paying not 10 bucks for that crap.
