HELP! Vibration and Floating feel
Hey everyone just new to the site. Anyhow I have a few problems with my civic.
1) While CRUISING at lower speeds in any gear I get no vibration. But when I step on it I get vibration in the car, wheels and steering wheel. What would cause this?
2) at higher speeds 90km/hr and up, I get a really floating feeling through the steering wheel, it's pretty hard to keep going straight, and if I turn the wheel a bit then I get a really soft feeling like the car is floating and not stable at all. What would cause this?
I am also wearing a fair bit on the edges of the rubber. Don't know if that would help in finding the problem.
The car is not stock, has coilover suspension, 18" rims, upper strut bars, and the rest I believe is stock.
Thanx,
Doug

Re: HELP! Vibration and Floating feel (JDM PRO)
I would tend to belive its bad tierods because of the lose steering, altho out of balence wheels are anther good posibility.
Have the wheels re-balenced,
Get an alignment,
Check your tie-rods

Re: HELP! Vibration and Floating feel (Deucers)
check all of the bushings on the front suspension (and rear) components for cracks in the rubber or to see if the bushings are completetly seperated in the mounting hole

Re: HELP! Vibration and Floating feel (Deucers)
Just check all the basics first:
- Alignment
- Lug nuts
- Tire balance
Shaking during acceleration = bad cv joint (axles)
Shaking during braking = warped rotor(s)
Shaking all the time = loose lug nuts or tires unbalanced
Most common, easier checks.
It could also be seperated tires. That was my problem until I got new tires.
