Help with timing marks on crank pulley

Help with timing marks on crank pulley
I cannot provide pictures, but I’m having a problem. If my timing marks on the crank pulley do not line up, but my cam is set perfectly. What can I do to fix it? I really do not want to tear all that stuff off again. Could I just pull the belt off the cam and rotate it until the crank lines up?
I’m still kind of confused though. If my cam and crank were lined up good when I put the belt on; what would cause it to be that off?

Re: Help with timing marks on crank pulley
So, I can line up the TDC mark on the crank pulley, then I can slip off the belt and adjust the cam, or do I need to take off the whole pulley then match up with the arrow on the block? I just wanna be certain. I’m sorry, I’ve never done it that way before.

How off we talkin? If it's only like a tooth or two line up crank, slip belt off then move cam gear to correct position, replace belt.

The cam is right on TDC, however the crank pulley tdc mark is about half an inch to an inch from the gunsite pointer on the timing belt cover

that's how you're supposed to line up the timing on those engines.

I understand that. I kind of mixed up things, sorry. Whenever I replaced my timing belt, somehow my TDC mark on my crank pulley got knocked like an inch or so to the side. I’m confused because my arrow on my block matched up perfectly with the crank and likewise my cam was where it was supposed to be. I guess at some point when I tightened it or drove it around it skipped a few teeth. I’m just trying to figure out what I can do to get my crank matched up with my cam, which is alligned correctly.

Re: Help with timing marks on crank pulley
First, loosen up the timing belt tensioner. Once the crank pulley is set, you can adjust the cam gears, with the timing belt off. Rotate the cam gear with the center bolt (in the middle of the cam gear). Make sure the "UP" is at the 12 o'clock position. Once that is set, tighten the timing belt tensioner. Manually rotate the crank pulley COUNTERCLOCKWISE one entire revolution and stop when the crank pulley is at TDC mark.
What’s the purpose of rotating the crank pulley one revolution at the final step?

Re: Help with timing marks on crank pulley
The process I use is:
Turn the crank some degrees off of TDC. You don not want any pistons at the top while you are turning the cam.
TDC the cam
Bring the crank up to TDC (You can turn in either direction, whichever is closest to TDC. Do not turn it through BDC.)
Put the timing belt on
Turn crank two full turns counterclockwise and double check the marks.
You have to turn the crank two full revolutions to bring the cam around once.
If there is any doubt about the crank being at TDC, remove spark plug 1 and probe in the cylinder as you turn the crank to find when the piston is all the way up.
