help on rocker arms of d16z6
Hi all
I was dissasembling a cylinder head I bought around a month ago and I found out that 1 rocker arm of the intake side ( the first one) is missing a small cylinder peace of metal.
I am a vtec noob but I guess that when vtec activates, this cylinder metals lock together making the center rocker arm the prior one so a high lift occures for all 2 intake valves..... for each cylinder
So am I screwed ?

so you're missing the piston that locks the rocker arms, and essentially, makes vtec happen? You could probably buy one from hondaautomotiveparts.com
i think #5 is the part you want, but the diagram is too small to tell. Hope it helps

Pretty much, you might experience a loss in oil pressure too being that the rail that rocker arms are on is full of oil and rely on this to engage that pin that you are missing, so basically, you will have one valve in your head that doesn't experience vtec... might cause too much overlap, blah blah blah...

Re: help on rocker arms of d16z6 (TriniTech)
I bought the head like this, So I might think the little piston was lost when the person removed from the engine or, he sold it because he doesnt know why vtec doesnt engage...

You, sir, are correct. It is #5 that he needs. That is the little rod he was talking about.

Re: help on rocker arms of d16z6 (.Red.EM2)
thanks for the reply's
Yeah, it would need all 3 small cylinder in order to vtec work Because The cylinder of the first rocker arm, pushes the cylinder of the vtec rocker arm and the cylinder of the vtec arm pushes towards the last rocker arm (for each combustion chamber)
