I was on the highway driving and then while i was shifting into third gear the car didnt move while pressing on the gas. I tried all of the gears even reverse and its not moving at all. Had it towed home. Before I wasnt able to shift into gear without pressing the clutch now I can go through the gears without pressing the clutch while the car is off. What could the problem be?

 

if the car is off you should be able to go through the gears without the clutch. check your shift linkage and clutch

 

sounds like shift linkage i had it break on me in gear 1

 

While the car is on if you can shift through gears (not moving) without clutching. Broken or slipped/disconnected shift linkage for sure.

Thanks guys. When you say shift linkage do you guys mean the shifter cables or the actual shifter?

 

it could be the cables broken or slipped off of the pins that keep them in place... check your engine bay and then pull off your console and look

 

checked the pins and the cables are in place. checked the shifter and everything is in place.
