Help Please
First things first, I’m new to the Honda game, first post on any forum and this is my first time swapping a motor. But unfortunately I can not get my motor to run. When I purchased the D16Y7 I thought it would of been a straight shot and just plug and play. I was also given his old ECU. Both his and my ECU was labeled as P2E. But when it came down to the distributor his had a different plug in. When I searched it up it looked to be a OBD1 distributor? When I put in my old distributor and plugged it in I still couldn’t get it to turn on sadly. Yes I do get power, the dash lights come on. I did a little more research and it looked like a I needed a step down harness for my distributor? Is this really all I need? Is there something else I might be doing wrong? Please help me out and point me in the right direction, I’ve search over forums multiple times and maybe I’ve been looking in the wrong direction. I am in dire need and I need back my daily. Please and thank you.

Re: Help Please
What make model and year is your car and what's the year and make the engine you swapped in from? Is the engine you swapped in a JDM engine or a USDM ?
Try your distributor and original engine harness. Check all your connections as well as the distributor firing order! make sure the spark plug wire/firing order is correct!

Re: Help Please
That’s was my first idea. I had originally used my old distributor on his motor first but still nothing. He claimed his motor was from a 96 civic and my civic is a 98 and yes all are in the correct order.

Re: Help Please
I am with tony 2018 on this one... OBD-2A engine harness distributor plug and OBD-2B distributor plug... plus a random non-related 4-wire grey plug to really confuse people. The distributor conversion harness you have pictured above is the WRONG ONE. There will only be one plug on each end. Now, if you tried your old distributor on the new engine and it didn't start... you either have a bad old distributor OR you still have something else done wrong - even though you insist that everything else is on point.

Re: Help Please
Can I get a link to the right conversion harness please. I’ll try that out and see where I go from there. But yes not a single plug was left out but those. In that case if the conversion harness doesn’t work I’ll just tow it my job and see if I could find out what’s wrong exactly. If anything I’ll just buy a new distributor and pay wholesale price.

Re: Help Please
Find a '96-98 Y7 Distributor from a local salvage yard and plug it directly in to your engine harness... or seek professional help. This really shouldn't be that hard.

Re: Help Please
Taking a little bit more time into the car, found out it was first automatic but when I purchased it, it was already stick. I’m going to end up buying a new distributor from my job tomorrow and see how it goes, if not I’ll just have to tow it there.
