HELP NO SPEEDO....
People my speedometer does not work, weird because it will come on after the car is running for a while. Once the car is off and cool and you start it again the speedo will not come on. I replaced the VSS and there is still no response. Would it matter where the VSS came from? what could be wrong besides the VSS. no codes..

yeAH im almost positive it was working. The speedometer works after the run is running for wild it comes on. But when you first start the car it would not come on at all. If the cluster was bad the RPM's would be out too and everything else?

Not nessacarily. Try swapping in a new cluster and see what happens.

is it just me, or does this seem to be a common problem? mine works very erratically, i know its my speedo, cuz I'm getting a vss signal. i should fix it, but i know how fast I'm going in 5th by watching the revs, and that makes me lazy

It is a problem.. With ALL "EG'S". What happens is: Overtime, the soddering inside the speedo comes loose. It's a problem that is extremely common, and it can be fixed by opening up the cluster and re-soddering the connections.
My car had this problem for a long time before I finally got around to installing my GSR cluster. Now that I have installed my GSR cluster, the speedo works 100% of the time. It is just poor design / craftmanship on the "EG" clusters.
So.. Either get a new guage cluster, re-sodder your current speedo, or dont have a working speedo!

Replace the cluster with a used one, changed the odometer to the correct mileage, and never had a problem.
When its not working, while your driving give the cluster a good whack with your fist, if the needle jumps VERY good chance thats your problem.
