Default Help with new build and cam gear install

I have recently re-built a d16z6 and I installed a crower adj. cam gear. On the d16z6 the cam gear it has a 3rd lower timing mark to line up with the cover. The new adj. cam gear doesn't have that mark. So I set the timing with the old gear with the 3rd marking and then swapped the new gear. It idles fine but has little power under load. the cam gears have the same ammount of teeth and the keyway is in the same spot. If i leave the cam timing at 0 I can't adjust the distributor enough to get the timing mark on the crank to line up when adjusting ignition timing. If I retard the mechanical timing ten degrees I can line up the Ignition timing but It runs horribly. Is the mechanical timing too advanced? Advice would be appreciated. Thanks

sounds like you could be off a tooth. with the crower cams they still have the marks that the stock cam has.

the only difference is on the crower cam it is not painted. its engraved. please check to see if you have engraved lines on the cam gear. also post up a picture of the cam gear so i know which model it is.

ill get a pic for you, but it doesn't have the stock markings. The stock gear has three markings. two 180 degrees apart and one at 8:00. the crower has only 2 at 180 degrees apart.

stock gear _ _ crower gear _ _
