I know from some basic searching that Canadian model EM1s (the SiR) had factory ABS, but I haven't found much reference to people adding it to their USDM Civics. Am I crazy for wanting to make the swap? Is there a good reference out there that my searching has missed?

The "Si" sold in Canada was actually almost identical to the American EX. In the USDM, some EXs had ABS and some did not.

If you had an ABS parts car you might be able to swap all the parts over and convert, but there are a lot of parts involved. It was a factory build option not a dealer add-on like the A/C.

First off, to prevent any confusion, EM1 = CDM SiR = USDM Si. CDM Si = USDM EX.

There is a Finnish guy on here who added ABS to his 5G Civic. So, it's possible. Think: MC, ABS computer, ABS unit, wiring harness incl. sensors, axles, ....

Plenty of work but these cars are like Lego. I mean, cruise control wasn't a dealer option but it's possible to retrofit it by pulling the right parts. Same idea! Good luck! Research, research, research!

Yeah, I tried to be clear with my post but somehow it didn't come across, apparently.

I did look into it a little further and it doesn't seem worth the time & effort involved for my use case. I think I'm better off just saving up to import an EK9 in... 2.5 years? Or maybe I'll just end up with a newer domestic model Si... Thanks, though, for the encouraging words.
